The area is a paradise for fishing and hiking, but don't feel guilty when you indulge and pamper yourself in the luxury of the "log built" house with roaring log fire, swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi. The property is powered and heated using sustainable bio-energy. This property combines the privacy of a holiday home with the luxury and service of a hotel, with excellent food and facilties on site.
The lodge is reconstruction of the "Logbuilt" building from the 1600's, complete with the traditional Norwegian barn bridge. The Barn comprises of 180 m2 of floor space split up into five large bedrooms, which sleep twelve comfortably. There is a large lounge with open fireplace and a smaller TV lounge. The kitchen is large and well equiped with everything you will need for your holiday. There are two toilets and a bathroom. To add to your enjoyment of the building there is an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, and sauna. There is also a veranda with a wonderful view towards Forbuvann lake. Activities
Depending on snow conditions you can cross country ski everywhere around the cabin, forging your own tracks in virgin snow. There is a small local ski center at Vegårshei (12 km/7miles away) and if there is not sufficient snow, there are inland mountain downhill slopes 60km/40miles away (about 1 hours drive) Note: these cabins are located in Southern Norway and at a lower altitude than the ski resorts further inland. Snow is likely but not guaranteed. If it doesn't snow, low temperatures will however make the landscape and icy lakes beautiful. In previous years snow has started in November and lasted until February
Summer: Summer and autumn is the time for fishing (trout, perch and eel), hiking, mushroom gathering, berry picking, swimming in the lake, canoeing, horse riding and just generally enjoying nature. You can have a sauna by the lake, relaxing afterwards by the lakeside camp fire and can row across to the grill house for a rustic evening meal cooked specially for you In the Southern rivers closer to the coast, salmon and sea trout will be spawning Lake Vegår is the main lake of the area, with 20sqkm/12sqmiles and 365 islands. People go there in summer to swim or canoe and then relax by an open fire, and year round to fish
Setting
The log cabin is set at 720ft/220m on a former farm in quiet seclusion, with views of lakes, gentle hills and endless forests. The only sounds are nature, the wind, the waterfall from lake Forbuvann and the gentle jingle of sheep bells.
There is a small and highly regarded farmhouse restaurant where you can enjoy an evening meal before taking a glass of wine in the hot tub beneath the stars.
