NorwayThe Norwegian railway system operates a modern and efficient train service through some of the most spectacular scenery in Norway.

Operated by the Norwegian State Railway (NSB) has a well developed network stretching from the Southwest coast up to Bodø on the coast of Nordland county. In addition there is the Bergensbanen route that crosses the mountains on its way from Oslo to Bergen on the West Coast. The trains are modern and well equipped and have exceptional punctuality.

Seat reservations are compulsory on all NSB long distance trains. An additional fee has to be paid for reservation of seats, couchettes and sleepers.

You can plan your Norway experience and your train journey by using the travel planner you find on the NSB web site. It is possible to make reservations here, but only if you can pick up the tickets at one of their offices in Norway within a few days after the reservation has been made.

Travelling to Southern Norway from Oslo Torp, you can catch a train from Sandefjord to Porsgrunn or Drammen from where there are services on to Arendal on the southern coast.

Scenic Railways

The Bergen Railway
The Bergen Railway is a unique experience on Northern Europe´s highest railway. One of the greatest challenges is the harsh and changeable weather. The Flåm Railway
The journey on the Flåmsbana railway is regarded as one of the high points on the journey. The 20km-long train journey from the mountain station of Myrdal and down to Flåm deep in the fjord takes around 55 minutes. On the journey you have views of some of the most magnificent mountain scenery in Norway with an ever-changing panorama of tall mountains and thundering waterfalls. The train moves slowly or stops at the best views.

AIRPORT CONNECTIONS

Sandefjord Airport Oslo Torp
There is a train station at Oslo Torp, a bus takes passengers from outside the terminal to the train station, a five minute journey, and from there you can catch a train to Oslo and connect to the rest of norway.

Oslo Airport Gardermoen
The railway station is located in the basement of the airport terminal - easily accessible by escalator from the arrival hall. There are separate platforms for the Airport Express Trains and other trains. All InterCity trains between Skien in the south and Lillehammer in the north (via Oslo) serve Oslo Airport Gardermoen at intervals of 1 hour during most of the day. In addition the long distance and night trains to and from Trondheim serve the airport´s railway station. Travel distance from Oslo central station to Gardermoen airport is approx 30 minutes and from Gardermoen airport to Lillehammer approx 1hr 30 minutes.

Trondheim Airport Værnes
The trains serving Værnes airport's railway station connect with Trondheim central station (local trains) and long distance and night trains going southwards towards Lillehammer and Oslo as well as north towards Bodø.
