Lillesand Lakeside Cottage

Charming small cottage situated in an idyllic situation beside a lake, which is excellent for swimming and fishing. There is a small boat you can use, and from the lake through a small channel you can access a much larger lake with superb fishing. Within easy reach is the pretty seaside town of Lillesand with shops and restaurants, and a little further along the coast is Grimstad and Arendal.

This traditional wooden cottage offers delightful accommodation in a peaceful rural setting, and is a short drive from the towns, beaches and islands of Norway's south coast.  The property has been sensitively restored by the owner who has been careful to retain its character and charm.

Accommodation

The cottage is electrically heated, with a combination of radiators, under floor heating and a woodburner in the sitting room.

Downstairs:

Entrance hall leading into the well equipped kitchen, separate living/dining room with sofa, dining table for six, wood-burning stove, television.

The kitchen has oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine.

Bathroom with shower and toilet.
Bedroom with two single beds (can be joined to make a double).

Upstairs:

Attic Bedroom 1 with single bed
Attic Bedroom 2 with three single beds

Outside
Garden down to the lake with picnic table, summer recliners, boat with 4hp outboard motor, fishing equipment and life jackets provided.

Freshwater lake with channel leading to a larger lake.

Local Area
The rural location of the cottage is rich in wildlife both on land and in water, moose are regularly seen here and the lake is excellent for trout and perch, with excellent sea trout fishing nearby.

You can walk for miles inland from the cottage and not meet a soul, and when you want to get back to civilisation, bustling seaside villages and towns are nearby.  Lillesand is 5 minutes, Arendal 40 minutes.

The area is superb for families with clean beaches and plenty to occupy the kids, including Kristiansand Zoo - highly recommended by our guests.

Notes:

Linen/Towels can be hired for £16 per person, and a NOK 1000 (£100) deposit is payable on arrival, from which a £70 cleaning charge is deducted - this is quite usual in Norway.

You can also request a "welcome pack" of food and drink so you don't have to visit a supermarket as soon as you arrive - this is especially useful for late or Sunday arrivals, because shops may not be open.

The cottage was lovely, very homely, clean and well equipped. We would have liked to make more use of the boat but alas... the rain. You were great hosts too which added to our enjoyment.

As far as constructive feedback goes, these are a few things that may help.

We managed to find the cottage with a combination of my Sat Nav, your directions. The new road layout just off the E18 confused my Sat Nav and a key part was heading in the right direction on the 420 and turning left in Heldal opp the bus stop.
