Hamar holds much loved memories from the late 70s to the early 90s when I sadly left Norway. I spent many happy days fishing on the magic Mjosa both from a boat and shore together with many friends both Norwegian and ex pat Brits. We started the first fishing clubs which resulted in Norway being able to enter a team in both the Europian and World Championships. Sadley I have lost touch with all my fishing friends but hope to find them later this year on my first visit for over 15 years. Given the chance I hope to brush up on my rusty Norwegian that is if the locals don't want to speak English all the time.

I would suggest any angler looking for a warm reception and good sport should head for Hamar, its a great centre for site seeing, shopping in the town centre and meeting the warmest and helpful folk you will find anywhere in Norway. Good luck and enjoy
