Gjøvdal is a valley that lies in Åmli region and stretches from Gangsei to Nesvatn - about 40 km stretch of road.

The name comes from the river Gjøv which flows through the valley and ends in Nidelva in Åmli.There are approximately 175 residents in this small hamlet.
At storesand which translated means "Big Beach" ... there is a fantastic natural beach. Ideal for picnics at BBQ's

There is a small church dating back 300years set on the hillside which is worth a visit.
There is excellent Trout fish in this whole area on the river Gjørv.
Historically the area has been inhabited since the Iron age, with burial mounds scattered throughout the valley.
